KK, I had very specific discussion with SM regarding the next wet season and its implications. There were four of us listening to his responsesw, one was longwindingrd, the two others....
He said that the next wet held zero concerns for him, all top soil covering the main ore body would be moved ASAP to one side, it would be, from what I understood (those that were there on the day can appreicate how quickly SM talks about his passion) to be compacted and/or covered (?)
He also continued by saying once the rock was uncovered and cleared, the wet was beaten. Asked about water flooding the pit, his response was that each drop down ledge would be slightly angled to the pit wall, and that spoon drains are employed to handle the water.
I had specific interest as I spent 10 years in Cairns and saw the awesome power and damage that a "big " wet can cause. His response were immediate and I felt fully assured with his answers. It was a little time back, many things, good and bad have happened to me since, maybe some of the others there could expand.
Esentially it's go time, I suspect the the next drone flyover with show substansial changes to the footprint on the mine site. Concrete poured for the ball mill.
I watched a $1.3 billion hospital be built in front of my eyes and was gobsmacked at how much could be achieved by half a dozen trucks, a crane, couple of dozers and diggers. And they had all the restrictions of building next door to a corridor of high rise high denisty dwellings on one side and a major sydney hospital on the other.
I suspect out in the countryside not much will stand in the way of our progress.

ps, the price slump is not of concern to me, I'm standing in the corner with KK and his timelines.

Talk to SBM about the effect of a torrential downpour (Solomon Islands). To continue in my doomsday stance ....El Nino years mean dry Australia and wet Sth America.
That red soil is a worry...we know aboout that on the nth coast.
It is a bit hard to tell from flyover but am surprised by lack of erosion mitigation that we see in Australia.
