    The money used to develop, test, patent, lobby, market, deploy and administer a malaria vaccine where it's most required - throughout Africa - is enormous. Especially when it has neither proven effective nor safe. This money would be much better spent on basic health measures that can be implemented to reduce the death rates of all infectious diseases.

    The ability to resist diseases like malaria requires a strong immune system and for that you need good nutrition, clean drinking water and sanitation. If we want to help people reduce malaria rates and eradicate other infectious diseases we should be focusing on improving the unhealthy conditions which compromise their immune function in the first place. But there's no payback for big pharma and their cronies from doing the right thing so naturally they do the right thing for themselves.
